Jacques Villeneuve
Jacques Villenueve is the 1997 Formula 1 world champion. But after moving on to BAR Honda in 1999, it was all downhill.
He failed to turn BAR around as Michael Schumacher did to Ferrari. He was always engaged in a phsy war
with his team mate. The last being Jenson Button, calling the kid a boy band and not racing material. Ironically,
He was beaten by the boy band member in the team, scoring more points than he did. He refused to change his
driving style or tactics even though it was clear that Jenson was doing the right thing. (ego kicking in?)
Can't accept the fact that the other guy is right or better, eh! He was dropped by BAR, and as expected,
more sour grapes from the old guy. He was given a chance at Renault in the last 3 races of 2004. And with the
fast starting reputation of the Renault machines, he was instead falling backwards at the green light.
While Fernando Alonso (his renault team mate) was fighting at the front, he was languising at the back and not quite
fighting for the points scoring position. And now he is with Sauber. Again, he was beaten by his
team mate, Felipe Massa, in pre-season testing. And again in the race. He qualified 4th in Australia and
finished 13th. Massa started at the back and finished 10th ahead of Jacques. Maybe it's time for Ant Davidson
and the others to get a drive. Don't you think?
Ferrari
Ferrari is a win at all cost and grab as much money team. Michael Schumacher couldn't have been F1 world champ
in 2003. It could have been JP Montoya or Kimi Raikonen. But because Ferrari can almost always have their way
in F1, the FIA changed the interpretation of the rules deeming the Michellin tyres used by the 2 other guys
illegal. That happened at the last few races of the season when they saw the other teams making a come back
and Schumacher's title bid under threat. This season, they don't want to limit testing and level with the other teams.
And bring down the cost of operating in F1. It is apparent that they would rather see an F1 season with only a handful of teams than lose "unfair" advantage.
There used to be 12 teams on the grid, but Arrows and Prost went broke. Jaguar pulled the plug but thanks
to RedBull for taking over. I'd rather see Prost and Arrows back and Ferrari out than an 8 team grid with
Ferrari in there. GPWC anyone?
